Before installation

Before installing an insert bearing or mounted bearing unit, confirm the product model and compare it with the equipment requirement. Inspect the shaft, check the shaft diameter, clean the shaft and mounting surface, inspect the housing, and prepare the correct tools. Visible dirt, burrs, corrosion or damage on the shaft should be addressed before the bearing is installed.

The bearing bore and shaft should not be forced together when the size or surface condition is uncertain. If the product is a replacement item, compare the new part with the old bearing, housing and drawing. This simple check can prevent many installation problems before the machine is restarted.

During installation

Position the bearing correctly and avoid applying force through the rolling elements. Direct hammering on the bearing can damage raceways, rolling elements or seals. If force is required, it should be applied in a controlled way according to the product drawing and equipment manufacturer instructions.

Install the housing without distortion, align the shaft and unit, and tighten locking components in the correct sequence for the locking style. For set screw locking, eccentric collar locking or adapter sleeve locking, the confirmed product drawing and equipment instructions should guide the work. Do not invent tightening torque values when the requirement has not been confirmed.

After installation

After positioning, rotate the shaft manually where possible. Check for abnormal resistance, interference or unusual noise before running the equipment. Confirm that locking components are in place and that housing mounting bolts are secured according to the equipment requirement.

A low-risk trial run may be appropriate when the machine design allows it. After initial operation, stop the equipment safely and inspect the unit again for looseness, movement, abnormal noise or heat. If several bearing units support the same shaft, check alignment and mounting condition across the full shaft line rather than looking at only one unit.

When to ask for technical confirmation

Contact the manufacturer when the shaft condition is unclear, the product is being replaced from a sample, the housing is damaged, multiple units are misaligned, or the application involves dust, water, outdoor use or difficult maintenance. Photos, measurements and the machine drawing help the supplier review the issue more effectively.

Installation guidance should always follow the equipment manufacturer requirements and confirmed product drawing. General online advice cannot replace the actual machine design, especially when the shaft, housing or locking arrangement has been modified.
